Feature Film - written by Dorothy Jane Stewart and directed by Paul Sng 

When a disgraced, alcoholic doctor meets a pregnant teenager suffering domestic abuse, they embark on a relationship which could lead to redemption, but at devastating cost to them both.

A black comedy that explores addiction, recovery, male violence and coercion.

 

Yvonne and Cheryl - two lonely and damaged people trapped in very different situations, who find hope, solace and redemption in each other.

 

Tone wise, it sits between Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank and Lynne Ramsay’s Ratcatcher and the emotionally raw explorations of friendship explored in Ali and Ava and Withnail & I.

With this script  - writer Dorothy Jane Stewart won the 3rd Wscripted Cannes Screenplay List, an initiative launched in partnership with Mubi and awarded at Cannes 2023.

​

Paul Sng is a bi-racial British Chinese filmmaker and BAFTA Breakthjrough 2022, based in Edinburgh, whose work focuses on people who challenge the status quo. His work has been broadcast globally and screened in cinemas and festivals across the world.

​

This project has been chosen to appear at Film London's Production Finance Market 2023.

 

The Production Finance Market (PFM) is the annual two-day financing event for film, run in association with the BFI London Film Festival.
